| Computer virus help?! please!!!? | |||||
|
okay so i have McAfee on my computer as an anti-virus software. I clicked on a link on a website and it gave me a virus i think. There is an internet window that keeps popping up saying that my computer is infected (not from McAfee it says Windows Security on it) . but i had McAfee do 2 scans. They both said that there were no problems. Earlier i got hacked i guess because on facebook it showed that i had posted a link (i'm guessing that also carried a virus) on my profile but i didn't post it. please help me i'm a little freaked out to say the least! i changed all my passwords on my emails and facebook. any help?! (need anymore info just ask!) If it is a virus u cant just change the password. What u need to have a virus "purger" program. It would delete the virus and the spamming thingy on your face book. Theoretically the virus may be embedded in your internet. There are a variety of Viruses out there, not all can be detected by anti viruss.... There is a 2 step process you can take 1. Install another antivirus like kaspersky internet security (30day free trial), just clean it up with this. That should be able to help, if not, you might want to backup your important files and format the computer and reinstall the stuff, that should help In meanwhile don't use the computer for any financial transactions as it seems you have got a bad case of either a rootkit or a keylogger at the least Hi from France Run your true anti-virus ( McAfee) in Safe Mode, it will be more efficient.. If it is not sufficient, go on http://www.secuser.com and then, after stopped momently McAfee, run the online anti-virus you''ll find on the website I gave you, but not in Safe Mode this time, since it is online, and safe mode doesn't allow the internet.. Then, reactivate your usual anti-virus... Have a nice day, Cat. i have never had good experiences with Mcafee products or norton for that matter. try Panda Cloud Antivirus and Microsoft Security Suite. that will prevent future occurences. but as far as removing them... they are probably in registry.. but most cases unless your are a trained tech these things are hard to remove... viruses, trojans, myzors, etc. . root kits are impossible to remove, they place themselves between the OS and the GUI so the only way the eliminate the threat is by reinstalling the Operating System. think if it as a cancerous cell. the doctor will tell you, "we believe we got it all, but if not, it may grow back" same here... if any trace is left at all, there is a high probability it will just remultiply... Formating is your best bet. srry. LurexTech MCP, MCSA http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ http://www.cloudantivirus.com/en/ If it's the virus I'm thinking about there's no way I know of deleting it without doing a system restore. You need to restore your system if you can, you need to work fast after rebooting by going to start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore. Restore it to a point prior to the virus being installed.
After restoring, go to http://pack.google.com and download "spyware doctor". Run spyware doctor, it should get rid of your virus. |
