I have a Dell Latitude D520 Laptop. The laptop is connected to the router but is not connecting to Internet 8. I have called Dell but they wont help me because the Warranty Expired. but they did tell me to Unplug the ethernet cable and plug it directly into the laptop and then I should get internet. But still I can not connect. Is there a program that is blocking me from getting onto the internet 8? or is there something turned off that needs to be turned on, by a click of a mouse. Please Help I need the computer for my school.....

is your computer wireless or wired?

First try going to:
Start > Run > CMD > type "ipconfig /release" then type "ipconfig /renew"
this may fix the issue.

Also what IP address are you getting ?
to check Start > Run > CMD > Ipconfig /all
can you ping google?
Start > Run > CMD > "ping google.com"
