I live in a small apartment with my girlfriend. we are heavy internet users. i have a ps3 and an xbox360 and we both have laptops. two of these devices will be on the internet at any given point in time. The ps3 and Xbox will hopefully be wired to the modem/router when being used as it is close to the TV. The dude at staples told me to buy the most expensive one 2.4ghz/5ghz Dual Band N router ($180). Is this necessary? If i am plugged in to the modem will the router even be necessary (i need one for the laptops either way). Basically I would like to know what router I need for my set up so that I can game and have my girlfriend still be able to go online and watch shows at the same time.

The cheapest one will work fine. The primary advantages of the more expensive routers are greater wireless range and more bandwidth between wireless devices. For a few machines accessing the Internet inside a small apartment, none of those differences matters.
