| Nikon 50mm vs 35mm. What should I get? | |||||
|
I have a Nikon D40, and I want a new lens. I'm torn between the Nikon 50mm and 35mm. Price is no matter. Give me your opinion and maybe some specs of each lens The 50mm would be better for portraits. . The 35mm would be better for pretty much everything else. With the 50mm lenses, note that you'll want the 50mm f/1.4 AF-S version. It's expensive, but the cheaper 50mm f/1.4 AF-D and the 50mm f/1.8 won't auto focus on your D40. The 35mm will focus just fine on a D40 - no problem. I have a Nikon D5000 , fisheye is the best :p The 50mm 1.8 cheapie is actually a great lens. One thing to consider...the 50mm is going to have the view of a 75 (and the 35mm will be like a 52.5mm) compared to a film camera (it's the DX sensor).
