How likely is it that I have MRSA? I'm in middle school, and today I got back from a science field trip to the beach, we went to a very small college campus and stayed in the dorms, and last night I found out that there was a man that goes to school there that has MRSA, my friends and I went swimming in the ocean that night (before we knew about this guy) and after we came back my friend and I were taking a shower and another one of my friends took our clothes and put them in the community dryer, the guy was in there washing and drying his clothes (also bleaching everything he touched, or so my teacher later told us he said) and so he took out our clothes and said he would put them back in (although he never did, and we found our wet clothes sitting on top of the dryer the next morning). Our teacher came and told us he told her that he has MRSA and was trying to disinfect the things he touched, and so when we got the clothes in the morning, we put them into plastic bags and immediatley washed our hands...I heard you get MRSA by having an open wound, and I have really severe acne/open wounds on my face, but I washed my hands right after I touched my clothes..I'm probably overreacting, but I'm absolutely terrified that I have it...please tell me how likely it is that I contracted it. If you get an unexplained rash or sore that feels warm when you touch it, and a fever, then you most likely have MRSA. You are probably fine though. I had a friend that had MRSA, and before I knew this I spent a good portion of the day with him and I'm fine. If you are really concerned, go to the doctor.
---If it is treated early you will be fine. It can be bad if left alone, causing serious problems.
