|
i built a hide for my soon to come ball python but its not a moist hide just a normal one would a moist hide be better? if i mist the cage with a spray bottle and have a large watter bowl does he need a moist hide? thx ten points for best answer Hi, save yourself the problems of mold by giving your python a large water bowl to soak in instead of a moist hide and if the water bowl is placed in the warm side of the tank it will be naturally humid . experienced reptile keeper/ breeder You need three hides for in your cage: a hide on the hot side, one on the cool side, and one for when shedding: ( a plastic container with a whole and wet moss in it will do) . heres a few care guides to help you out: http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/pythons/a/ballpythons.htm http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/pythons/a/ballpythons_2.htm Snake expert!!!! Ball pythons do not need a moist hide. They are from Africa and live in desert climates. Moist hides, foggers, and what not are for animals that live in rain forest conditions. If the cage is too wet a ball python with get scale rot and that can only be treated with medications from a vet.
It's also very important to have two identical hides. If you do not have two identical hides the snake will chose the one it feels most comfortable in whether or not it's the best choice for his health. Here's a link to my ball python care sheet http://www.slitherinsisters.com/ball-pyt/a> I have a lot of information on that page. You will also find links to other pages about feeding tips, FAQs, and my set up. |
